Jake Paul announces Christmas Eve comeback fight in Dubai after broken jaw threatened his career

Jake Paul is getting back in the ring.
The YouTuber-turned-boxer fought former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua last December and lasted until the sixth round as a tremendous underdog. However, in the bout, he suffered a broken jaw that has actually threatened his career.
Paul recently told Ariel Helwani that never boxing again “is definitely in the realm of possibility” – but it is not a reality.

Paul and his Most Valuable Promotion brand announced Thursday he will be fighting in Dubai on Christmas Eve, with an opponent to be announced at a later date.
“I’ve spent years proving people wrong, taking risks and pushing myself against opponents nobody thought I’d face. Nothing that’s happened has changed my belief in myself or what I’m working toward,” Paul said. “I’m hungrier than ever, and on Thursday, December 24, I’m returning to the ring in Dubai to start the next chapter of my journey.
BOXING FAN FAVORITE AMANDA SERRANO ANNOUNCES ‘THE LAST WALK’ FIGHT IN HOME COUNTRY OF PUERTO RICO
“Dubai is a city that thinks big, breaks boundaries and doesn’t believe in limits. That’s exactly the kind of place I want to make my comeback. We’ve got plenty of names on the list; let’s see who signs the contract. Merry Christmas, Dubai. Santa Paul is coming to town, and somebody’s getting knocked out.”
“Twelve months ago he suffered a double broken jaw against a two-time heavyweight world champion and since then many have doubted his desire or need to return to boxing. Well he is back, and that tells you everything about the competitor Jake Paul is and how much he loves this sport,” Paul’s business partner, Nakisa Bidarian, added.
Paul is 12-2, including a victory against Mike Tyson in November 2024.

The Milwaukee Brewers win the first World Series title in franchise history, defeating Tampa in 5 games

The Milwaukee Brewers put on a masterclass in every facet of the game as they beat the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 to win their first World Series title in franchise history in five games on Wednesday at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.
In a game that saw both teams’ aces go head-to-head, it was the Brewers’ Cy Young candidate Jacob Misiorowski besting Rays ace Drew Rasmussen.
The NL Cy Young frontrunner went five-and-two-thirds innings, striking out two while only allowing two hits before exiting the game with an apparent cramp in his leg. Rasmussen was pulled after four innings with him being on short rest and a reported pitch count of 60.
The real story was the Brewers offense – especially rookie shortstop Cooper Pratt.
Pratt got the scoring started in the second inning with an RBI single, scoring Brice Turang. And Milwaukee never looked back.
That wasn’t the only notable thing Pratt did – he made a little World Series history with his single. It was his sixth straight at-bat with a hit, the most for a rookie in Fall Classic history.
But it was the sixth inning when things went up a notch. William Contreras’ RBI double scored a run and then he would score on Pratt’s sacrifice fly to build the lead to 4-0.
The Rays bullpen was able to settle in, using seven total pitchers, but the Tampa offense was sound asleep until Liam Hicks and Chandler Simpson both doubled in the ninth for the Rays, making the score 4-1.
Contreras was named the World Series MVP after batting .381 with four RBI.
The Brewers will now bring a World Series title back to Wisconsin.
Let the spraying of champagne begin!
It’s the last party of the season in a long line of them.
Every major US sport has multi-round postseason schedules, but none of them party like MLB teams. Locker room celebrations in the NFL tend to be subdued until the Super Bowl, and since hockey players are famously superstitious, popping bottles early is practically verboten in the NHL; the Stanley Cup is all that really matters.
Boston Red Sox clubhouse manager Tom McLaughlin has spent over 40 years with the Red Sox, and he says he’s lost track of how many celebrations he’s been involved in, but he counts them in the dozens. He told CNN Sports it was “pretty tame” when he started in the ‘80s, when the postseason was much shorter, but the back end of the season now can feel like one enormous bender for the most successful teams.
Clinched a playoff spot? Party.
Successfully navigate the wildcard round? Let’s get wild.
Made it through the Divisional Round? Get another round in.
Won the Championship Series? We’re going on a spree.
By the time a baseball club wins the World Series, let’s just say that the celebration will not be their first rodeo. Everyone will have had plenty of practice.
Read more here on why baseball teams party all the time, party all the time, party all the time in October.
It’s a kid’s game played by grown men. But sometimes it’s nice to see that those men don’t lose sight of what it all means.
Trevor Megill closed out the game for the Brewers, getting the final six outs to clinch the World Series – a scenario that he dreamt about over and over.
“For the last two months or so, this is everything I could think of,” Megill told Fox. “You know, going to bed, coming to the field every single day. This moment right here.”
With a championship belt slung over his shoulder, Megill said: “This is just incredible, man. Ten-year-old me would be so proud.”
The Brewers’ star catcher William Contreras was named the MVP of the World Series, a well-deserved honor.
Contreras was excellent defensively behind the plate and made great use of his team Automatic Ball-Strike System challenges. He batted .381, knocked in four runs and was the spark plug for the team all series long.
“I don’t have words to say for how I’m feeling but I am just appreciative of my teammates. Appreciative of (Pat Murphy). I thank all of them,” Contreras said via his translator.
Contreras also called up star reliever Aaron Ashby, who was extremely complimentary of the catcher.
“He wants to compete every single day. He’d die for everyone on this team and he’d do anything for any of the guys on this team. He’s our bulldog and we love this dude,” Ashby said.
Milwaukee has waited 57 years for a World Series title. Cooper Pratt had to wait about four months.
Pratt, the Brewers shortstop who caught fire in this World Series at the plate, was called up to the Brewers in June. He found himself starting at shortstop in the Fall Classic just a few short months later and is now a champion.
“This is one of the greatest moments of my life. Oh my gosh,” he said, overwhelmed by the moment. “It doesn’t even feel real. Like, I don’t know. This is this is surreal. Only took four months!”
Pratt thanked Brewers fans and his teammates for being patient with him as he developed in the big leagues all season.
“The pressure is out of this world. It’s some of the hardest but most fun baseball I’ve ever been a part of,” he said. “I messed up a lot of times this postseason, but the guys picked. up, and we’re here, and we’re world champions. It’s so special, man. I’m so blessed.”
Bob Uecker spent 54 seasons as the voice of the Milwaukee Brewers, narrating every game every summer until his death in January 2025.
His loss was keenly felt in Wisconsin and throughout baseball as he was one of the game’s most well-known personalities.
Uecker died without ever seeing the Brewers win a World Series title, but Christian Yelich said he had a feeling that Ueck was watching on Wednesday.
“He’s smiling, man. He’s smiling. I really wish he could have been here to see this,” Yelich told the Fox broadcast. “But like we said, a bunch – he’s been with us a lot and we keep him close to our hearts. And you know, this one’s still for Bob. This is for Ueck.”
Christian Yelich’s arrival in Milwaukee in 2018 marked a turning point for the franchise, making him the centerpiece of the next eras of Brewers baseball.
Yelich won the MVP that year and remained one of the biggest parts of the team, even as injuries robbed him of some of the production he had earlier in his career. With this title, he finally gets to call himself a World Series champion.
“I don’t even know how to describe it. It’s the best feeling ever. All of our fans are here,” Yelich told the Fox broadcast. “I know the city’s waited a long, long time for this, and we’re so happy to bring it home to them.
“Can’t wait to get back there and celebrate. I wish everybody could experience what this feels like. It feels amazing.”
The Milwaukee Brewers have erased nearly six decades of heartache, defeating the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 5 to clinch the franchise’s first World Series title.
The Brewers used their small-ball ways, leaning on clutch hitting, stellar defense and exquisite pitching from ace Jacob Misiorowski to claim Game 5 and win the title. It was a fitting exhibition of Brewers baseball that carried them to baseball’s best record in the regular season and saw them roll through the postseason.
RBI singles from Cooper Pratt and David Hamilton built the lead in the second and fifth innings, but it was the sixth when things went up a notch. William Contreras’ RBI double scored a run and then he would score on Pratt’s sacrifice fly to build the lead to 4-0.
Liam Hicks and Chandler Simpson both doubled in the ninth for the Rays, making the score 4-1.
It’s an incredible moment for the city of Milwaukee’s baseball fans. The Brewers had only been to one World Series before this year, losing in seven games to the St. Louis Cardinals in 1982. After coming within three outs of the title on Tuesday and falling short, the Brewers will get to go back to Milwaukee for a victory parade rather than Game 6.
The Brewers’ win is a victory for the league’s smallest media market and 19th-biggest payroll. Notably, the Brewers swept the big-money Los Angeles Dodgers to get to the World Series, a major bit of payback for a franchise has been building toward this moment for a decade.
Final score: Brewers 4, Rays 1
Just like that, Jacob Misiorowski’s night is over.
The Miz was on cruise control before getting Junior Caminero to fly out to right. He throws one pitch to Liam Hicks and it’s fouled off, and suddenly the Brewers’ trainer is coming out to the mound.
Misiorowski’s longest postseason start – his last appearance before winning the Cy Young award – would end prematurely with what appears to be a cramp.
It’s a shame, at just 86 pitches in the sixth inning, it would have been compelling to see how deep he could go.
But he left with a four-run lead and his team 10 outs from winning the World Series.
It didn’t take long for JoJo Romero to get out of the inning, getting Hicks to ground out to end the sixth. The Brewers are nine outs away from their first World Series title.
Score: Brewers 4, Rays 0
Cooper Pratt has been one of, if not the most important players on the Brewers this World Series.
After making history his previous at-bat, he looked to make it seven straight at-bats with a hit.
While it didn’t result in a hit, his sacrifice fly brought in Milwaukee’s fourth run of the game as things are unraveling for the Rays since Drew Rasmussen was taken out and the bullpen came in. Pratt’s 1.000 batting average in the last few games still stands.
The 22-year-old Pratt now has a team-high seven RBI’s this series.
Steven Matz was able to get David Hamilton to fly out to end the inning, stranding Brice Turang on third base.
Rays are running out of time to extend this series.
Score: Brewers 4, Rays 0

Brewers win World Series for first time in franchise history with Game 5 victory over Rays

For the first time in franchise history, the Milwaukee Brewers can call themselves World Series champions.
The Brewers couldn’t get the job done in seven games against the St. Louis Cardinals in the 1982 World Series, and it took them 44 years to get back to the Fall Classic this season.
In Game 5 against the Tampa Bay Bays, one night after getting walked off in the bottom of the 13th inning, the Brewers defeated their AL opponent, 4-1, to claim their title.

Game 4 was a suspenseful thriller, where it seemed like 22-year-old rookie Cooper Pratt would go down in World Series history after belting a top of the 13th solo homer to finally break a 2-2 tie.
But, facing a potential sweep at the hands of the Brewers, who did the same to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS, the Rays strung together four straight singles in the bottom of the frame to walk off Game 4 and keep their season alive.

In Game 5, the Brewers didn’t blink despite momentum swinging in the Rays’ favor ever so slightly.
Once again, it was Pratt, three years removed from playing high school baseball in Mississippi, coming through in the clutch with an RBI single in the top of the second inning off Drew Rasmussen, who made a start on short rest given the circumstances, to take a 1-0 lead.
Meanwhile, Jacob Misiorowski, the likely NL Cy Young winner, was dealing triple-digit fastballs the Rays couldn’t handle in the bottom frames. He went 5.2 innings before cramping in the bottom of the sixth inning forced manager Pat Murphy to finally go into his bullpen, which was exhausted in Game 4 due to extra innings. Misiorowski gave up just two hits and one walk, while striking out two.
The Milwaukee bullpen took over with run support, though, as David Hamilton shot an RBI single past a diving Rays defender in the top of the fifth, and two more runs would come across one inning later thanks to another RBI from Pratt on a sac fly and Williams Contreras roping a double to score Christian Yelich.
A 4-0 lead was just what the Brewers needed, as the bullpen continued to get its outs and the suspense this time was felt from Tampa Bay all the way to Wisconsin, where fans were inching closer toward a history-defining victory.
HISTORIC 5TH INNING AND MUCH MORE: BREWERS’ WORLD SERIES GAME 3 BY THE NUMBERS
This was a team that had the best record in MLB this regular season at 103-59 despite having a payroll in the middle of the pack (19th overall at $146 million). The Rays’ payroll was even lower at $95.6 million, which ranked 28th among the 30 teams, making this a World Series matchup of two teams that operated in another spectrum compared to those at the top of the list filled with All-Stars in every facet.
“Brewer Ball,” however, became a fascinating watch for both baseball traditionalists and modern-day fans. New York Yankees great Derek Jeter said, “Quite frankly, that’s how baseball’s supposed to be played.”
The Brewers do everything needed to win games, especially those close ones. They did it during the regular season, and they did so in the postseason, including Games 1 and 2 against the Rays before blowing them out in Game 3, 10-1, at Tropicana Field.

So, in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Brewers did exactly what was needed one last time to cap their magical season in the best way possible.
Time to celebrate, Brewers fans. Your team just won it all.

Brewers vs Rays World Series Game 5; live updates, score, highlights

9:42 pm CT
Abner Uribe negotiates the seventh; they’re six outs away
JR Radcliffe
Simpson got to third on a groundout by pinch-hitter Richie Palacios, but Victor Mesa Jr. hit a full-count pitch in the direction of Brice Turang, and that’s been an automatic out in this postseason. He smoothly picks a tricky hop and tosses to first to strand Simpson at the hot corner.
The Brewers need six more outs. It’s Taylor Walls and then the top of the order coming up in the eighth. Aaron Ashby was warming, so we may see him or him and Trevor Megill. A little more insurance wouldn’t hurt, either.
It’s 4-0, Brewers, in Game 5 of the World Series.
9:35 pm CT
Yikes, bad defense strikes the Brewers again
JR Radcliffe
It’s hard to argue that William Contreras has been one of the centerpieces of Milwaukee’s postseason, but he just double-clutched and then threw wild down the first-base line on a Chandler Simpson dribbler in front of the plate. That allowed Simpson to get to second and put good speed on the basepaths with one out, and Abner Uribe is checking in to face Ben Williamson and Ryan Vilade.
Romero struck out DeLuca to start the inning and get the first out. It’s the second time in as many nights that he was on the hill for a play that turned into an error. The Brewers have done enough to win despite the sloppy defense they’ve exhibited in this postseason, and they still have a cushion, but the fans at Tropicana Field have stirred to life.
Still 4-0. It’ll be Richie Palacios pinch-hitting for Williamson.
9:27 pm CT
Brewers send the minimum to the plate in the seventh
JR Radcliffe
It’s still 4-0, Brewers, as we hit the seventh-inning stretch. It sure seems like Romero will begin this inning, with Jonny DeLuca, left-handed hitting Chandler Simpson and Ben Williamson due up.
The Brewers need to get nine more outs for a World Series. Abner Uribe is warming in the bullpen and perhaps would come in for Williamson.
9:25 pm CT
Jackson Chourio and Cooper Pratt have had a whale of a series, but a big double play for Rays
JR Radcliffe
Jackson Chourio just singled leading off the seventh, and he now has eight hits in this World Series. According to Sarah Langs, there are 14 players with at least eight hits in the World Series at age 22 or younger. And the only ones to do it in the same year: Chourio and Cooper Pratt.
But as cool as that was, he was doubled off at second base when Jonathan Aranda made a sweet play on a Jake Bauers bouncer and threw down to second for the tag.
9:19 pm CT
JoJo Romero gets Hicks out, and we move to the seventh
JR Radcliffe
Liam Hicks swung at the first pitch he saw from JoJo Romero, and it was a bouncer to Cooper Pratt, who closed in and threw across. The Brewers are nine outs from a World Series championship. They have a 4-0 lead and the top of the order coming up in the seventh.
Misiorowski finishes allowing just two hits, one walk and one hit batter. He’s the second starting pitcher ever to work five innings or more in a potential World Series clincher and allow two or fewer hits, joining Tom Glavine (eight innings, one hit) in 1995, a 1-0 win over Cleveland for the Braves.
9:14 pm CT
Jacob Misiorowski leaving the game with a leg cramp
JR Radcliffe
Miz tried a warmup pitch and couldn’t shake the cramp, so now he’s leaving the game. That’s a tough break, although if he had retired Liam Hicks, he almost certainly wouldn’t have been out for the seventh, anyway. It might scramble Milwaukee’s bullpen plans though, since now relievers have to get hot in a hurry to try and finish off the sixth.
The Brewers are 10 outs away from winning the World Series. The bullpen will need to lock them down. It’s 4-0, Brewers.
9:12 pm CT
Misiorowski gets the first two outs and now gets a mound visit
JR Radcliffe
Not sure if something is bothering Jacob Misiorowski, but a trainer and other personnel have strolled to the mound to discuss after he got ahead of Liam Hicks, 0-1. He’s gotten the first two outs of this inning, a groundout from Aranda and a long flyout to the right field corner off the bat of Caminero.
Might just need some fluids with cramping and what not; that’s an issue we’ve seen Misiorowski deal with in the past. He’s two strikes away from getting through the sixth with nothing but zeroes on the board. He’s probably not working into the seventh, so curious to see if he remains.
9:04 pm CT
Brewers take a 4-0 lead into the bottom of the sixth
JR Radcliffe
Twelve more outs to go for the Brewers to lay claim to their first World Series title. David Hamilton popped out to left against Matz, so the Brewers will settle for the two-run sixth inning to double their lead. The Brewers bullpen has begun rustling, but it’ll be Jacob Misiorowski to start the frame against the Rays’ 2-3-4 hitters. Big corridor of the lineup to retire.
Milwaukee has out-hit the Rays, 7-2, and they have a 4-0 lead. They’re really, really close.
8:59 pm CT
Rays going to their third pitcher of the inning
JR Radcliffe
After Garrett Mitchell drew a two-out walk, the Rays are turning to left-hander Steven Matz to face lefty-swinging David Hamilton with runners at the corners and two down. Could Hamilton really come through again? He did have an RBI single last time up.
The Rays have a tired bullpen and look like they’re running on fumes. There are still 12 outs to get, but a 4-0 lead is feeling pretty huge right now.
8:55 pm CT
Cooper Pratt drives in another run with sacrifice fly
JR Radcliffe
Cooper Pratt had gone six consecutive at-bats with a hit in this World Series, and that one … well, it doesn’t count as an at-bat. His long fly ball to right field allows William Contreras to tag and score from third base, and it’s now 4-0 Brewers.
Mitchell steps to the plate with a runner at third and two outs against Tyler Wells looking for one extra insurance run in this two-run sixth.
Pratt is up to four RBIs in this series. He has eight hits.
8:48 pm CT
WILLIAM CONTRERAS DOUBLE GIVES THE BREWERS ANOTHER ONE
JR Radcliffe
Christian Yelich was hit by the first pitch of the inning from Garrett Cleavinger, and that brought up William Contreras, who sent a long fly ball that landed in the left field corner and squirted around to get Yelich all the way homer. Contreras winds up at second base, and the Brewers have a 3-0 lead.
Then Brice Turang blooped a ball that somehow fell right near the chalk line in left field. Contreras had to hold to make sure Chandler Simpson didn’t catch it, and now it’s corners with nobody out and the Rays are holding a mound conference. Tyler Wells is coming in next.
Huge chance for the Brewers to blow this open. It’s 3-0.
8:44 pm CT
Misiorowski is through five shutout innings
JR Radcliffe
In the biggest start of his career thus far, Jacob Misiorowski has thrown five shutout innings, getting Yandy Díaz to chase outside the zone on a full-count pitch to end the fifth frame. It’s only his second strikeout, but he’s been relatively efficient, allowing two hits and up to 74 pitches. One would presume he will at least get the sixth with Tampa Bay’s big boppers due up (Aranda, Caminero, Hicks).
The Brewers will bring a 2-0 lead to the sixth.
8:35 pm CT
Brewers can’t add more on in the fifth, settle for 2-0 lead
JR Radcliffe
Jake Bauers has two strikeouts and a foul out in this game after striking out against Garrett Cleavinger to end the fifth, and the Brewers will have to settle for a 2-0 lead as we head to the bottom half. Really tough series for Bauers at the plate, but remember he has two big-time defensive saves in this game so far.
On to the bottom of the fifth with Vilade, Walls and Yandy Díaz due up for Tampa Bay.
8:32 pm CT
Chourio strikes out for third time and Rays bring in another reliever
JR Radcliffe
Jackson Chourio got caught looking for his third strikeout tonight, and with Jake Bauers due up, the Rays are again going to their bullpen with left-hander Garrett Cleavinger. Still two runners on with two lefties due up.
8:30 pm CT
DAVID HAMILTON with another hit to give the Brewers a 2-0 lead
JR Radcliffe
David Hamilton has become a monster in the postseason. He just drove a ground ball to right-center through a drawn in infield and the Brewers lead grows to 2-0 here in the fifth inning. Have to imagine followers of the Rays are squirming at the decision to pull Drew Rasmussen from the game after just four innings.
Two on, one out, for Chourio with the Brewers up a pair.
8:27 pm CT
Cooper Pratt has a record and the Brewers are cooking up a fifth-inning rally
JR Radcliffe
Cooper Pratt became the first rookie in MLB history to collect hits in six consecutive at-bats with a one-out single against Kevin Kelly, and then he went to third on Garrett Mitchell’s badly needed single to the opposite field. They’re at the corners with one out for David Hamilton here in the top of the fifth. Milwaukee leads, 1-0.
8:21 pm CT
Jake Bauers just saved the lead and another bad throw from third base
JR Radcliffe
Jake Bauers has now made two key defensive plays in this game, making a stretched backhanded stab of David Hamilton’s throw across the field for the last out of the inning. He kept his foot on the bag and got the Brewers out of the jam, though that could have gone pretty differently. Hamilton had plenty of time but just got the throw up a little bit.
No matter, it’s still a 1-0 game in the top of the fifth. And the Rays have taken out starter Drew Rasmussen, who was highly effective but working on short rest and perhaps out of gas. Turang hit a ball that nearly went out for the final swing against Rasmussen (and it would have been out of 19 of 30 parks, including American Family Field).
Brewers made two yikes defensive plays in that inning, but they emerge unscathed.
Kevin Kelly on for the Rays. The bullpen has entered the chat.
8:17 pm CT
Jacob Misiorowski gets his first strikeout of the night, but Rays have a threat in the fourth
JR Radcliffe
Miz hit Liam Hicks with a pitch to put a runner on with one out, but he finally got his first strikeout of the night when Jonny DeLuca swung and missed. It’s rare to get 14 batters into a Misiorowski start without a K on the board, but the Brewers ace is still getting the outs.
Chandler Simpson then fell behind, 0-2, then singled to right field, and when Sal Frelick fumbled the ball, it allowed Simpson to move up to second base. It’s second and third with two outs and Ben Williamson (last night’s hero) up at the dish.
Another game with a defensive miscue for the Brewers. It’s still a 1-0 lead, but it’s tenuous.
8:08 pm CT
Rasmussen still dealing through four, but Kevin Kelly warming
JR Radcliffe
Drew Rasmussen looks like he’s in complete control, but he may not be long for this game anyway. Kevin Kelly is warming in the bullpen; perhaps the short rest means Rasmussen isn’t going to be able to go much longer.
But he does have four innings of one-run ball; he didn’t make it through the fourth in his Game 2 start at American Family Field. Brice Turang looks pretty locked in tonight; he just scalded a ball to dead center, but Jonny DeLuca caught it at the wall to finish off a 1-2-3 frame. Christian Yelich also hit a ball that died on the left-field warning track. Once again, Brewers making solid contact and not getting results.
The 1-0 lead goes to the bottom of the fourth.
8:00 pm CT
Misiorowski walks Yandy Díaz, but nothing more from Rays
JR Radcliffe
Probably not ideal for Misiorowski to issue his first walk of the night to a player who looks hampered by an injury of some kind, because Yandy Díaz didn’t look good at all during that at-bat. But he bounced back by inducing a fly ball from Jonathan Aranda to end the inning, and the Brewers take their 1-0 lead to the fourth.
Trainers again looked at Yandy Díaz once he got down to first base. He elected to stay in the game, but it led to a couple stoppages as he tried to work through a calf or lower leg injury of some kind. I doubt it’s gamesmanship of some kind, but I’m kind of surprised he remained in the game.
He’s the DH so we won’t know for a while if the Rays replace him. Misiorowski has thrown a solid 40 pitches through three innings.
7:54 pm CT
Jake Bauers with a slick fielding play to kick off third, and is Yandy Díaz hurt?
JR Radcliffe
Jake Bauers just made a diving stop at first base to rob Ryan Vilade of extra bases down the first base line, complete with a dive to touch the bag before Vilade can himself slide in at first. Bauers didn’t make the scoop last night on Joey Ortiz’s error in the 12th, which obviously played a big role in the Rays win, though that was a pretty difficult scoop. This was a great play to get things rolling in the third.
Misiorowski still doesn’t have a strikeout, but he’s got the first two outs and two strikes on Yandy Díaz, who’s now getting attention from trainers after crouching in the grass near the plate. It looks like something is bothering him in his lower half.
7:50 pm CT
Nothing doing for Brewers in the third, though two Rays players collide catching a ball
JR Radcliffe
For the second time in this series, a pop fly ball in foul territory between third and home is an adventure for the Rays, with Junior Caminero and Liam Hicks colliding. The ball was caught and the Brewers went 1-2-3, but that follows a play yesterday where the ball did fall to the turf (and didn’t end up mattering).
Caminero is playing despite a play last night where he looked banged up after he slipped getting to third base. So surely that doesn’t help his cause.
It’s 1-0 heading to the bottom of the third. Jake Bauers, who hit that fly ball, is 2 for 19 in the World Series with three walks and five strikeouts. He’s 0 for 12 since arriving in Tampa Bay, though he hit a couple hard yesterday.
Both Garrett Mitchell and Jake Bauers were huge for the Brewers in the NLCS, but it’s been a different story in the World Series.
7:42 pm CT
Misiorowski works a perfect inning in the second
JR Radcliffe
Jacob Misiorowski hasn’t struck anyone out yet, but that might be better for a Brewers team that could use some length after last night’s bullpen deployment. He’s thrown a mere 22 pitches in two innings and has gotten six outs, including three outs in the air in the second inning.
The Brewers hold their 1-0 lead into the third.
7:37 pm CT
Garrett Mitchell’s rough World Series continues
JR Radcliffe
Garrett Mitchell was one of the stars of the postseason coming into the World Series, but he’s been struggling on this stage. After striking out to end the second, he’s now 2 for 17 with seven punchouts against the Rays, and both hits are singles. He’s drawn one walk.
Feels like that inning could have been more than one run. But it’s 1-0 heading to the bottom of the second.
Cooper Pratt becomes the seventh player under the age of 23 to collect an RBI in four different World Series games, and he joins Juan Soto as the only one of those players to do it in four consecutive games.
7:33 pm CT
The Brewers have the lead on a Cooper Pratt single!
JR Radcliffe
Cooper Pratt’s RBI last night didn’t end up getting the Brewers the win. So he went out and got another one.
The rookie shortstop just singled softly over second baseman Ben Williamson to score Brice Turang, who hit a line-drive double that rolled to the edge of the warning track with one out. Sal Frelick was then hit by a pitch, and he would have been on third base with one out, but Pratt tried moving up to second base on the throw and got trapped in a rundown. That’s a key out, even though the hit is also big … and not the first time in the last 24 hours Pratt getting thrown out on the bases looms large.
Still, the Brewers have the 1-0 edge in the second.
7:23 pm CT
Junior Caminero gets a single against Miz, but Rays don’t score in first
JR Radcliffe
Junior Caminero’s two-out single goes for naught when Liam Hicks pops up to second baseman Brice Turang, and neither team is able to scratch across a run in the opening inning. William Contreras will leadoff the second inning against Rasmussen, who only threw 11 pitches in the first. Misiorowski threw 13.
7:20 pm CT
Misiorowski asking for help with pitching-mound maintenance
JR Radcliffe
Already in the first inning, Jacob Misiorowski is asking Rays officials to work on the landing spot on the mound. We saw some problems with that yesterday, and it’s been a recurring issue for Misiorowski on opposing mounds giving how far he extends.
We have two outs in the first. Miz worked ahead of the first two batters, 0-2, before getting flyouts. It’s 1-1 on Junior Caminero with nobody on in the opening inning.

Brewers go 1-2-3 in the opening inning
JR Radcliffe
Drew Rasmussen looks strong early for the Rays on short rest, throwing just 11 pitches to work through a 1-2-3 opening frame. Jackson Chourio put up the best fight before striking out, and Jake Bauers went down on three pitches before Christian Yelich grounded out. An uninspiring start, though it stands to reason a pitcher working on short rest is likely to be worn down earlier, not necessarily worse out of the gate.
Here comes Jacob Misiorowski. It’s a 0-0 start to Game 5 of the World Series.

A former Brewer brings the ball to the mound for the Rays
JR Radcliffe
The last two nights, Brett Phillips has been in the house, and tonight, former reliever Grant Balfour brought the ball out for the Rays. Balfour didn’t play much for the Brewers, but he did appear for them for three games in 2007. Phillips, a World Series hero for the Rays, also made his big-league debut with the Brewers and was with them in 2018 before getting traded.
And now, a former Brewers pitcher will take the mound for real when Drew Rasmussen throws out the first pitch in about five minutes.

Probably a greater proportion of Rays fans tonight
JR Radcliffe
Tough to get Wisconsin fans to stick around for another day and get tickets to another game, especially when there is less than 24 hours notice that the game is happening at all. So I would expect a louder crowd pop for the Rays tonight, and it does seem like there’s a larger proportion of Tampa Bay fans in the house compared to Games 3 and 4.
Then again, I imagine if the Brewers are close to a championship by game’s end, the volume will increase in Milwaukee’s favor.

Here’s everything Christian Yelich said before Game 5
JR Radcliffe
Cooper Pratt and just how far he’s come, especially at the plate, how impressed were you with his performance yesterday, and what have you seen from the rookie and showing up?
CHRISTIAN YELICH: I’ve been impressed with him all season. I hadn’t seen him play a whole lot until he got called up, just a few times in Spring Training. Everybody was really talking about his glove, him coming up, but he can really hit. He’s got some really good at-bats. He’s gotten some big hits during the season for us, and postseason obviously had a couple of big ones last night.
Is it hard to sleep last night after a game where you’re so close to your ultimate goal, or is it easy because it was such a long game and took so long and went late into the night/morning?
CHRISTIAN YELICH: Yeah, you don’t get home until pretty late, long game. You’re tired. You sleep fine. Like, the game didn’t go our way. That’s part of it. It’s happened a bunch of times throughout the year, and you just move on and come here today ready to go.
We’ve talked a lot about the fans that are here taking it all in, but how about the Brewers employees that flew down with the team to take in this series? A lot of long-tenured people that work for the Brewers organization able to be here with you guys. What’s it like for you as players to see them around this ballpark?

Here’s everything Pat Murphy said before Game 5, including about whether Miz was available to close Game 4
JR Radcliffe
Just wondering how you’ve seen Cooper Pratt’s confidence come along at the plate to show up on the biggest stage like you did last night?
PAT MURPHY: Yeah, this kid just continues to amaze you. As a young player that just got into the league and quite a bit of pressure on him in terms of a young player who already signed a long-term contract like so many you see around the league today, McGonigle, Wetherholt.
And for him to come up at 21 and do the things he’s doing offensively when he never put up gaudy numbers in the Minor Leagues. But just to see the way he’s become a student of the game and willing to be open to growth, yeah, it’s pretty special.
Given the state of the series and how much he’s pitched already, would you use Aaron Ashby tonight?
PAT MURPHY: Possibly.
When you ask him, is there any time he’s ever said no as far as his availability? And, if not, how do you read that?
PAT MURPHY: You just have to gauge the stuff. William helps us too. He’s been extraordinary.
But we know him so well. So if you’re watching him, you can kind of tell, hmm, that’s not quite as crisp, or he doesn’t have the command the same way.
Their guy is going on three days’ rest tonight, but Miz is going on four days’ rest, which is something he hasn’t done in the second half and I think only twice since the end of April. Do you anticipate that being a hurdle to overcome?

World Series 2026: Brewers beat Rays in Game 5 to win first title in franchise’s 57

A 57-year wait is over. The Milwaukee Brewers are World Series champions for the first time in franchise history.
The Brewers completed a dominant postseason run on Wednesday with a 4-1 win over the Tampa Bay Rays, winning the 2026 Fall Classic in five games after falling just short of a sweep in Game 4.

The decisive game looked like plenty of other Brewers wins. A shutout start by presumptive NL Cy Young Award winner Jacob Misiorowski, who only exited due to cramps. A calm night for an elite bullpen. Production from up and down a pesky and patient lineup.
The result ultimately felt inevitable, with every Milwaukee player once again executing their specific job until second baseman Brice Turang threw out Richie Palacios to end the game, and the 2026 season.
The Rays were trying to become the first team to come back from down 3-0 in a World Series, but they would have made history just by sending the series back to Milwaukee. No team down 3-0 in the World Series has even forced a Game 6.

In total, the Brewers went 10-2 this postseason, and their only two losses were by teams trying to avoid sweeps. They won eight straight games from Game 4 of the NLDS to Game 3 of the World Series, tying an MLB postseason record.
The list of title-less MLB teams is now down to only four: the San Diego Padres, Colorado Rockies, Seattle Mariners and, of course, the Rays. The Brewers had been tied with San Diego for the oldest team in the league without a title, but no more.
It is, however, not the first World Series in the city of Milwaukee’s history, as the Milwaukee Braves won it all in 1957, eight years before moving to their current home in Atlanta and 13 years before the Brewers came to town after a single-season stint as the Seattle Pilots.
This article will be updated with more information.
