Newer Jeopardy Fans may not be aware that rounds have a time limit, but they do know that they must finish in the 30 minute episode. Since Ken Jennings became the host of this show, it hasn’t happened very often.
Since Jennings became the host, Jeopardy has often completed all clues. Alex Trebek hosted the Jeopardy round and there were often a few remaining clues when the timer went off to move to Final Jeopardy.
Reddit users discussed the issue and concluded that Jennings is a faster reader, with less comment between clues. Reddit user “timing” shared. Rewatching older episodes during the break and noticed that they only make it to double jeopardy with a few questions… Did they extend the time, or did Ken read faster?”
Reddit users discussed their theories on why this occurs. One fan stated, “I believe Ken reads more quickly than Alex, but also that they remove more abrupt pauses in the editing suite.”

I think the main problem is the editing pause. Because I have noticed that the questions don’t seem to be any harder. “But if I stop it for a moment, I’ll get more clues”, a reply from a viewer.
Alex often provides extra information following clues. Ken does not do that often,” a fan said.
Reddit users replied: “Yeah. In retrospect, the pace of the Alex reruns is brutally slow.”
“Great question. The same applies to me. Alex chatted a little more than Ken between the questions. “Idk, it could be the players have gotten better.
The players have improved their skills. Another fan said that it was not about giving better answers but rather being better at maximising outcomes. This includes getting all the clues.

For much of Will Gluck’s One Night Only, you can accept the goofy rules of this romantic-comedy-meets-political-satire. The movie makes the assumption that government is now involved in everyone’s affairs, dictating who can (married people) or cannot (unmarried people) have sexual relations. Travis Braun’s script, which alternates between will they or won’t they scenarios for the leads (a charismatic pair of Callum Turner & Monica Barbaro), is tolerable. One Night Only’s “decent” rom-com ends with a note that was written in the Production Code days: Get rid of the sex, because it interferes with love. It’s hard to believe that the movie’s anti-sex end contradicts its message about how government restrictions on sex drive society into a literal jail.
A dystopian world, not so different from today’s, has a law that forbids unmarried people from having sex on any other night than the one they are married. The only exception is the LGBTQ community. They’ve figured out a way to avoid the Sex Purge but will not share the secret.
Owen, the pizza maker (Turner), was going to propose to Maya Hawke (his girlfriend) tonight over omakase. That is until Maya suggested sleeping with another man. Turner’s Owen is a refreshing change from the stoic character he played in Eternity. He plays Owen with a lot of sincerity and confidence, even when he has to make physical jokes. Allie, on the other side of the coin is an aging singer who suffers from crippling stage fright. She’s ready to go out and paint the town in red with the help of her roommate who is a lesbian. Barbaro’s character is reminiscent of Diane Keaton, with her mortification at singing in public. She’s also a playful foil that can be combative and intrigued by the unlikely match. Owen and Allie meet on the street and begin an unlikely relationship with side missions and other potential partners.

Shucking oysters is a difficult task that requires patience and precision. The new movie “Tony” is set in a 1970s seafood restaurant kitchen in Provincetown, Massachusetts. A young Anthony Bourdain, played by Dominic Sessa, holds an oyster with his hand and struggles to open it using a small blade. Seasoned shuckers can imagine what will happen next.
This scene was one of the most disturbing for New York City’s restaurant staff who had rushed to the Mermaid Oyster Bar in Midtown on Monday, after watching the “Industry Night,” screening “Tony,” a film that opens Friday for general audiences. The attendees remembered their own naivety when they first started in the hospitality industry and the food service. “It felt like ‘Oh, no! He’s going into the emergency room.'” That finger is gone. “Please don’t touch that,” said Melissa Quayle who is an event planner at restaurants in New York.
The film “Tony”, which fictionalizes the views of a famous celebrity chef known for his candid opinions on restaurant management, had to meet a high standard with this audience. According to the workers interviewed by Gothamist during the A24 distributor’s reception, the film gets a lot of things right. Kitchens are a hive of frenetic activity. Many people end up in kitchens because they feel out of place anywhere else. The Matt Johnson directed film is not a narrative, but it does take its inspiration from Bourdain’s “Kitchen Confidential” memoir.
Rowan Spencer and his partner Emma Leigh Macdonald run the Mon Petit Canard pop-up restaurants. They were worried “Tony”, a Hollywood biopic, would fall victim to the typical traps. He said that this happened sometimes, particularly when the movie wrapped things up neatly. He said, “I thought it was a bit corny.” He was surprised to find that the film is a snapshot of Bourdain’s early culinary days.
Spencer added that “a lot happens in the kitchens where people are found out.” It’s easy to let people down. He compared it to Bourdain embellishing his resume in order to get a job working for the chef, played by Antonio Banderas. Spencer stated that the greatest tension comes from damaging a team service.
Some of these behaviors can be attributed to substance abuse. Sal, Bourdain’s (Leo Woodall’s) troubled co-worker offers cocaine to him during a meal and then shows up late for work – a serious offense in the kitchen – because he has been using heroin. Many restaurant employees who spoke with Gothamist expressed surprise that the two would use drugs right in front of the chef and not in a pantry or cold room. However, many argued things were different in the 1970s.
Despite the tragedy of Bourdain’s real-life demise, “Tony”, does not dwell on his drug use or mental health issues. This film is set in the past, and it’s a story of a young man growing up that shows how Bourdain developed his storytelling talent.
Pablo Vidal said the film is a good representation of the different personalities in a kitchen.
When you begin working you quickly learn who everyone is,” explained Vidal who began as a cook in Momofuku. It’s like, “Oh, that line cook is grumpy, but he has a lot of knowledge. It’s a man who is not very talkative, but you could learn a lot from him. “I saw him do that in the film.”
Jihan Lee is a chef at Nami nori and he was reminded of his early days in the food industry by several scenes scattered through “Tony”. He was reminded of his own teenage start in the industry when he saw the botched oyster shucking.
What resonated most with Lee was the love and toughness he received from his mentors, like Banderas’ chef character. Bourdain is looked after by the chef. The chef lets the teen sleep in a hammock on his back porch and awakens him each morning with a bucket full of ocean water. Lee’s dad did not use such harsh tactics, but he taught his son how to follow a strict schedule at restaurants.
Lee started to fall apart a few years later. He took on restaurant jobs, just like Bourdain did. Bourdain was a writer; Lee wanted to become a criminal justice professional. Lee said, “I would always arrive late to work and hungover.” His boss finally couldn’t take it anymore. Lee was furious when the chef shouted at him, but it wasn’t for reasons Lee expected.
I remember him telling me: “Jihan you are so talented.” Lee stated that if you put in a bit more work, one day you will be an even better chef than I am. He decided to pursue it as a profession, just like Bourdain.
