Skydance Sports Chief David Berson Sets Exec Roster

David Berson, the CBS Sports veteran who is now chairman of Skydance‘s Global Sports Group, has set his leadership team and named veteran execs Jeff Gerttula and Craig Barry to key roles.
The appointments are the latest to come down from senior leadership in an effort to organize and restructure Skydance, which was created by this month’s $110 billion merger of Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery. The new entity has platforms across broadcast TV, streaming, cable and digital. Berson was elevated to the top role the week the merger closed, with TNT Sports chief Luis Silberwasser announcing his departure.
By and large, the new roster confirms to the usual practice with mergers, wherein executives from the company doing the acquiring (CBS parent Paramount, in this case) prevail over the other side. One notable exception is Barry, who worked at the TNT and Turner sports division for nearly four decades. As Skydance Global Sports Group‘s EVP and Chief Content Officer, Barry will lead all production across remote setups and live events, along with talent, features and editorial.
Gerttula, a veteran CBS Sports digital exec, will oversee digital, international, strategy and business development for sports. “As we are still assessing the international structure and operating model, Jeff will be the point person with the international sports teams,” Berson noted.
Sports Business Journal had the first report on the appointments, which have now been confirmed by Deadline.
Notable exits as part of the reorg include those of TNT Sports communications and talent chief Nate Smeltz; CBS production EVP Harold Bryant; TNT Sports CFO Sophia Constantinides; TNT Sports Ventures president Patrick Crumb; TNT Sports HR SVP Donald Knight; and TNT SVP of strategic partnerships Raphael Poplock.
In the memo, Berson saluted the departing execs’ “leadership, partnership and immeasurable contributions, calling them “excellent executives whom I greatly admire and respect.”
Here are the names, titles and job descriptions provided by Berson:
Jeff Gerttula – Executive Vice President and Managing Director. In this new role, Jeff will oversee digital, international, strategy and business development for sports. As we are still assessing the international structure and operating model, Jeff will be the point person with the international sports teams. Bennett Spector will join Jeff’s team and continue to oversee Bleacher Report and House of Highlights. Yang Adija will also join Jeff’s team, with a focus on digital strategy and operations.
Craig Barry – Executive Vice President and Chief Content Officer. Craig will be responsible for all production, including remote and live event production, studio production, on-air talent, features, creative content, graphics and editorial.
Patty Power – Executive Vice President, Operations and Engineering. Patty will manage day-to-day operations and engineering, including remote technical operations, production management, engineering, post-production and media operations, and on-air operations.
Dan Weinberg – Executive Vice President, Programming. Dan will lead our programming group, responsible for programming strategy, rights acquisitions, program development, scheduling, and relationship management with our league partners.
Chris Carter – Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer. Chris will oversee all financial efforts.

Selma Blair apologizes to the ‘people that I disappointed’ after plane incident arrest

Selma Blair has spoken out publicly for the first time since her arrest on assault charges after an incident on a plane earlier this month, apologizing to “the people that I disappointed.”
The 54-year-old “Cruel Intentions” star shared a video on Instagram on Friday, saying that though her attorneys advised her against speaking about the case, she’s taking the legal matter “very seriously.”
“To the people that I disappointed, that I hurt, that I frightened, alarmed, I am so sorry,” Blair said.
In the opening of her video, Blair said, “I know I’ve been quiet for a couple weeks since October 11th, and you deserve to hear from me directly. And I’m sorry that it’s taken this long.”
Blair was on a Delta Air Lines flight from Los Angeles to New York City when she allegedly became “physically abusive” and was removed from the plane, authorities in New York said at the time. Two flight attendants reported injuries, and one was taken to a hospital, Port Authority said.
The actor was charged with two counts of second-degree assault related to her alleged actions after the flight. She is accused of kicking a Port Authority police officer who took her to the hospital and a nurse at the hospital later. She pleaded not guilty to those charges.
In her video, Blair defended her character, saying it’s not her nature to harm others.
“What I can tell you, though, is very simple, and the truest thing I know about myself, and that not one day ever have I intended to hurt or frighten anyone a day in my life,” Blair said.
She thanked those who reached out with love and support.
“It has meant everything to me and my son, who is my world, as is Scout, who is also OK,” she said, referring to her service dog.
“So right now, I’m going to be taking care of my health and my son, and thinking of you all with gratitude and love,” she said, concluding her video.
Blair revealed in 2018 that she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, an autoimmune disorder that attacks healthy cells in the central nervous system, according to the National Institutes of Health.
Blair’s attorney stated in court that her actions were the result of a medical emergency, citing diagnoses of multiple sclerosis and Parkinsonism.
At her Oct. 12 arraignment, her attorney, Shawn Barnes, told the judge that he doesn’t believe the assault was intentional and that the star had missed several doses of medication and also fell and hit her head on the flight.
Blair’s representative separately said in a statement that Blair had “experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct.”
The case was adjourned until Jan. 19, the DA’s office said.

14 spooky movies and shows to stream this Halloween weekend

From “The ‘Burbs,” to “The Blackening,” “A Haunted House,” and more we round up 14 movies and shows to stream this spooky season.
Some of the best that horror has to offer takes place right at home. Whether it be a story about a haunted house, a clumsy killer setting prey upon on the occupants, that strange sound down the hall, or even a sinister neighbor with strange comings and goings, these home-based thrillers are so petrifying because of how real they can feel.
Take “The ‘Burbs,” starring Keke Palmer, currently streaming on Peacock, for instance. The comedy-horror series is a spooky riot that doesn’t even leave the cul-de-sac once.
The 8-episode dramedy chronicles what happens when Palmer’s character, Samira, a new mother who moves with her husband into his childhood home, quickly finds herself caught up in a real serious Nancy Drew-level mystery when a suspicious stranger moves into the long-abandoned house across the street, leading her and a motley crew of neighbors down a suspense-filled path investigating. Between the hilarious antics of its unlikely mystery-solving gang and a plot that keeps you guessing, “The ‘Burbs” could make for one highly satisfying Halloween weekend binge. If that’s not what you’re after, maybe something more family-friendly or something even less so; if not truly terrifying, there are plenty of other spooky options starring Black talent. Below, we’ve rounded up 13 more movies and shows to stream this Halloween.
1. “Scary Movie” (2026)
More than 25 years after Shawn and Marlon Wayans first took on some of pop culture’s biggest horror hits, the brothers are back at it again, this time taking aim at films like “Smile,” “Sinners,” “M3GAN,” and more in the latest installment of “Scary Movie,” with Regina Hall and Anna Faris returning to the franchise, which promises plenty of wild, crude, and downright hilarious antics.
Paramount+
2. “The Blackening”
“The Blackening,” which follows a group of college friends whose Juneteenth weekend reunion at a cabin in the woods takes a deadly turn when a mysterious killer forces them to play a sinister game testing who among them is the Blackest, gave us something the world of horror comedy was sorely missing. Starring Grace Byers, Jermaine Fowler, Yvonne Orji, and more, the film is a hilarious send-up of horror movie tropes that Black audiences know all too well.
Hulu, Tubi
3. “A Haunted House”
The Wayans family doesn’t reserve all of its horror comedy spoofs for the “Scary Movie” franchise. In “A Haunted House,” Marlon Wayans takes on the found-footage phenomenon made popular by “Paranormal Activity,” playing a man whose girlfriend moves in only for their home to become the site of some increasingly bizarre, inappropriate, and downright hilarious paranormal activity.
Netflix, Peacock, Paramount+
4. “We Have a Ghost”
For anyone who has ever wondered what might happen if a Black family discovered their new home was haunted, Netflix’s original horror comedy “We Have a Ghost” offers a hilarious answer. Starring Anthony Mackie, David Harbour, Jahi Di’Allo Winston, and Jennifer Coolidge, the family-friendly film follows a teenager whose discovery of a ghost in his family’s new home turns them into an overnight internet sensation and sends them on an unexpected adventure.
Netflix
5. “The Curse of Bridge Hollow”
Another film you can throw on before the little ones head off to bed, where they will absolutely not stay up eating all their Halloween candy, is Netflix’s original film “The Curse of Bridge Hollow.” Marlon Wayans, Kelly Rowland, and Priah Ferguson star in the family-friendly comedy about a father and daughter who must team up to save their town after an ancient spirit brings its Halloween decorations to life.
Netflix
6. “Wendell & Wild”
For another family-friendly option that scratches that “Addams Family” and Tim Burton itch, but adds a little more Black girl magic, look no further than Netflix’s original animated film “Wendell & Wild.” Featuring voice performances from Keegan-Michael Key, Jordan Peele, and Angela Bassett, the delightfully creepy stop-motion film follows a rebellious teenage girl who finds herself caught up in the schemes of two demon brothers hoping to make their way into the land of the living.
Netflix
7. “Livestream from Hell”
In Prime Video’s original horror comedy “Livestream from Hell,” Kevin Hart invites Druski and Kai Cenat over for what initially seems like a fairly standard night of livestreaming antics, complete with celebrity guests and plenty of laughs. That is, until the evening takes a decidedly murderous turn, and the three find themselves in the middle of a horror comedy that gets increasingly ridiculous as the night wears on.
Prime Video
8. “Martin” Halloween episodes
Some of our favorite classic Black sitcoms have given us legendary holiday episodes over the years, and “Martin” is certainly no exception. From the haunted-house hilarity of “The Night He Came Home” to the spooky antics of “The Night He Came Home Again,” the beloved sitcom offers a reliably hilarious way to get into the Halloween spirit without committing to a full horror movie.
Netflix, Peacock, Paramount+
9. “Little Monsters”
Lupita Nyong’o has become quite the scream queen, from “Us” and “A Quiet Place: Day One” to the Hulu original film “Little Monsters,” a surprisingly charming horror comedy that even manages to sneak in a little romance. Nyong’o plays a kindergarten teacher whose field trip to a farm takes a horrifying turn when zombies descend on the property, leaving her to keep a classroom full of children entertained, blissfully unaware, and, most importantly, alive.
Hulu
10. “From”
For anyone looking for something a little more terrifying to binge, “From” might be just the thing. The supernatural horror series, which originally debuted on Epix, follows the residents of a mysterious town that traps anyone unfortunate enough to enter, forcing them to contend with terrifying creatures that emerge after dark while desperately searching for a way out. Harold Perrineau leads the cast as the town’s sheriff in a series that has kept audiences guessing through its increasingly bizarre mysteries and genuinely unsettling scares.
Netflix, MGM+
11. “The Other Black Girl”
Hulu’s original series “The Other Black Girl” may have slipped past some viewers when it first premiered, but the workplace thriller is well worth revisiting, especially for anyone who has ever been the only Black woman in the office. Based on Zakiya Dalila Harris’ bestselling novel, the series follows an editorial assistant at a predominantly white publishing house whose excitement over finally having another Black colleague quickly gives way to suspicion as increasingly strange things begin happening around her.
Hulu
12. “Get Out”
It simply isn’t a proper spooky season marathon without at least one Jordan Peele film, and “Get Out,” the Oscar-winning psychological thriller that launched his career as a horror filmmaker and changed the genre’s cultural cachet, remains just as chilling, clever, and disturbingly relevant nearly a decade after its debut. Daniel Kaluuya stars as a young Black man whose weekend visit to his white girlfriend’s family estate becomes an absolute nightmare.
Peacock
13. “Sinners”
And what would a Halloween marathon be without some genuine monsters? Ryan Coogler’s hit “Sinners,” starring Michael B. Jordan as twin brothers whose newly opened juke joint in 1930s Clarksdale, Mississippi, is set upon by vampires one fateful night, delivers plenty of thrills and chills. Between the bloodthirsty creatures, the blues, and an unforgettable ensemble cast that includes Wunmi Mosaku, Delroy Lindo, and more, there’s plenty to sink your teeth into.

Selma Blair apologizes in video weeks after arrest: ‘I take this very seriously’

Selma Blair is speaking out weeks after her arrest following an alleged altercation aboard a flight from Los Angeles to New York, issuing an apology and saying she takes the matter seriously.
“I take this very seriously,” she said in an Instagram video on Friday. “What I can tell you though is very simple, and the truest thing I know about myself in that not one day ever have I intended to hurt or frighten anyone a day in my life. And so to the people that I disappointed, that I hurt, that I frightened, alarmed: I am so sorry.”
The actress was arrested and charged with assault following an alleged incident on the Oct. 11 flight. She pleaded not guilty to two counts of assault and was released on bond.
In her Instagram video, Blair said that she has been “quiet for a couple weeks” and that her lawyers have asked her “not to say anything about that day.”
She continued, “To the people that have written or called or sent wishes of love or caring, it has meant everything to me and my son, who is my world, as is Scout, who is also OK.”
Scout is the name of Blair’s service dog who was with her aboard the flight.
“So right now, I’m going to be taking care of my health and my son and thinking of you all with gratitude and love,” she added.
On Oct. 11, the Port Authority Police Department said it responded to a call about “a physically abusive passenger” aboard Delta flight 938, which was parked at the gate after arriving from Los Angeles International Airport.
The passenger, identified as Blair, was taken into custody following the alleged incident and transported to a hospital, the Port Authority said.
Two flight attendants sustained injuries as a result of the alleged incident, with one being transported to the hospital for further evaluation, according to Port Authority officials.
According to air traffic control audio, the pilots informed air traffic controllers ahead of landing that one person had a bloody nose and another person had bite marks and requested that medical personnel be waiting at the gate.
A criminal complaint filed later in Queens charged Blair with two counts of assault in the second degree under New York Penal Law 120.05(3) for alleged altercations with a Port Authority officer and a registered nurse.
A judge set bail for Blair at $20,000 cash, $60,000 bond or $60,000 partially secured bond. She was later released on bond and the case was adjourned to Jan. 19, 2027.
In addition to the assault charges, Blair was issued a violation notice alerting her that she is facing federal charges of assaults within the special maritime and territorial jurisdiction of the United States, a source familiar with the federal summons told ABC News at the time.
The summons is answerable to the petty violations court in Brooklyn federal court, the sources said. There was no appearance date.

Martin Scorsese On How Seth Rogen “Ruined” His ‘Cleopatra’ Film

More than a decade after the Sony hack shook Hollywood, Martin Scorsese is still reeling from the fallout of the North Korean state-sponsored digital attack.
The Oscar-winning director recalled how the wide-reaching hack, which was a response to Seth Rogen‘s 2014 film The Interview, “ruined everything” for Scorsese’s planned Cleopatra feature, which would have starred Angelina Jolie.
“Remember we were gonna do Cleopatra at one point, and then they made fun of [Kim Jong Un], and he got mad and he blew up everybody at Columbia,” he told daughter Francesca Scorsese on Tribeca’s Crafty. “Seth Rogen, right? And then he got mad, and [it] ruined Cleopatra.”
Martin added, “We were gonna do it. We were ready on the script. Angelina Jolie—We were going. She was gonna be Cleopatra VII. It was gonna be really wild.”
As Francesca told her father she’s “so mad about” the fate of the film, Martin quipped, “Well, tell Seth, because they ruined everything. Just because Kim Jong Un doesn’t have a sense of humor.”
In The Interview, co-written and directed by Rogen and Evan Goldberg, celebrity tabloid show host Dave Skylark (James Franco) and his producer Aaron Rapaport (Rogen) land a rare interview with Kim Jong Un (Randall Park). When the CIA catches wind, they enlist the pair to assassinated the North Korean dictator.
Despite the unintended consequences of The Interview, Scorsese and Rogen have moved on, as the former even played himself in last year’s debut episode of the latter’s Apple TV series The Studio. Since Rogen’s studio head character Matt Remick ends up responsible for Scorsese’s passion project getting axed, could the storyline be another meta example of life imitating art in the smash show?

Selma Blair apologizes for mid-flight meltdown that led to arrest

Selma Blair broke her social media silence Friday following her arrest over an in-flight meltdown earlier this month.
“Hi, it’s me. I know I’ve been quiet for a couple weeks since Oct. 11,” the “Legally Blonde” actress said in an Instagram video. “You deserve to hear from me directly, and I’m sorry it’s taken this long.
“There is a legal matter going on and my lawyers have asked me to not say anything about that day, and I’m listening to them. I take this very seriously,” she continued. “What I can tell you, though, is very simple and the truest thing I know about myself. Not one day ever have I intended to hurt or frighten anyone a day in my life.”
Blair then apologized to those she has “disappointed,” “hurt,” “frightened” and “alarmed.”
“I am so sorry,” the 54-year-old said emotionally. “And to the people that have written or called or sent wishes of love or caring, it has meant everything to me and my son, who is my world — as is Scout, who is also OK.”
Blair said she is going to focus on “taking care of [her] health and [her] son,” Arthur Saint Bleick, as well as those who support her “all with gratitude and love.”
The “Cruel Intentions” star was arrested earlier this month after allegedly punching a flight attendant and biting another aboard a Delta Airlines flight from Los Angeles to New York.
She was reportedly placed in restraints while still on the aircraft before being taken into custody upon landing.
Blair allegedly kicked a Port Authority police officer in the head multiple times while being transported to the hospital in an ambulance.
She was also accused of assaulting a nurse at the hospital, who subsequently pressed charges against her.
911 dispatch audio from the incident captured the pilot requesting medical assistance and law enforcement officers when the plane landed to deal with an “abusive” passenger.
The pilot also noted that the “disruptive” passenger had left one flight attendant with a bloody nose and another with visible bite marks.
Additional audio captured Blair screaming after being removed from the aircraft.

At the time, Blair’s representative told Page Six that she had “experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct.”
Delta Airlines also addressed the incident in a statement to Page Six, saying, “Delta has zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behavior, as the safety of our customers and crew always comes first.”
In court shortly after the incident, Blair pleaded not guilty to two counts of second-degree assault and was released on bail. If convicted, she could face two to seven years behind bars.
Her attorneys attributed the incident to her having missed medication prescribed to treat her multiple sclerosis, as well as working “extensive hours” and “exhaustive hours” on set in the days leading up to the flight.
“These factors coupled with the altitude resulted in a state of severe confusion and disorientation,” one of her attorneys, Shawn Barnes, said. “This was not an intentional assault.”
Blair later broke her silence on the incident through her representative, who suggested there was “much more to this story.”
