The 19-year old Italian has won five consecutive races in his second F1 season, including the lights-to flag victory on the streets of Monte Carlo. George Russell, the closest competitor for the championship and a fellow Mercedes driver, was out of points because his team did not properly execute a 5-second time penalty. This mistake resulted in a harsher sanction, which dropped him to last place on the grid. Lewis Hamilton, of Ferrari, finished second and moved up to second in the championship by 2 points, while Kim Kardashian watched from the paddock. Isack Hadjar rounded out the podium, finishing third and claiming Red Bull’s first Formula 1 top three finish.
This is Antonelli’s fifth consecutive win, and his second consecutive race in which Russell failed to score. Antonelli has now gained 68 points on Russell in the championship.
“It has been a wonderful weekend. In a live interview conducted after the race, Antonelli described it as “an incredible race”. “Job not finished. You know it’s going to be a long year. We have to keep pushing and raising the bar. The goal is for Russell to keep performing at this level. The deficit is huge if Antonelli continues to perform at his current level. Russell qualified six on Saturday – four tenths slower than Antonelli – and Sunday’s race unravelled when he was stuck behind Hadjar. Around L 54, his teammate lped him in a darkly symbolic moment. Russell was one half dozen drivers that were penalized by the FIA for pit-lane speeds, which is an unusually large number. David Croft, Sky F1’s broadcaster, joked on air that there were “more penalties than the World Cup Final”. Monaco is a Formula 1 race everyone wants to win. The race course winds through Monte Carlo’s streets, past the harbor and a casino, before passing through a tunnel. It requires a high level of concentration, as the cars are just inches away from the barriers. an extraordinary streak

Scott Pelley claims CBS leadership pushed a pro-Trump framing.
Former ’60 Minutes’ correspondent Scott Pelley accused CBS News Chief Bari Weiss in an emotional New York Times article published Sunday of tilting coverage to favor how President Donald Trump described events in Minnesota. She also described a newsroom that was in turmoil under Weiss’ leadership. Subscribe to this story to enjoy it ad free

article that Weiss had tried to influence the politically sensitive “60 Minutes report” on
by attempting to influence her. He also claimed this was an editorial interference, which he hadn’t experienced before. Pelley told The New York Times, “There was political influence on the president’s version that I never saw in my 37 years of working at CBS News.” Pelley told The New York Times that the conflict centered around an “60 Minutes segment” about the confrontations between protesters, federal agents and immigration enforcement officers in Minnesota. This included the fatal shootings Alex Pretti & Renee Good. Pelley claims that Weiss had sent him notes about the segment, after it was already proved for broadcast. He stated that he was asked to make the protesters pear more violent, and also for the details of Good’s death. first interview since being fired last week “In the email, there are two things: Can we make the demonstrators look more violent?” Now, I’m parhrasing. Pelley replied, “I don’t know the exact quote but this is what I was told.” Renee Good’s car was another issue. Pelley stated that he and the producer of his film had “gone to great lengths” to include footage depicting protesters behaving violently including confrontations between law enforcement officers. He also said that they reviewed the video of Good’s shooting and concluded that it did not support Weiss’s characterization. Pelley claims that no changes were made in response to Weiss notes. The statement from CBS News said that Weiss’ notes were not used to change the article. They were only made to improve it. “As it is common in newsrooms that work collaboratively, not everything she said made it into a final piece,” the statement read. Pelley’s accusations were part of a broader criticism of CBS News’ leadership after the sale of Paramount to Skydance Media, CBS’ parent, and Weiss’ pointment as editor-in chief. Pelley, who was fired on Tuesday after an angry meeting with the newly hired “60 Minutes’ executive producer Nick Bilton whom he claimed lacked TV news experience, had a heated argument. Pelley said to the Times tensions have been rising for several weeks, following the mass firings of “60 Minutes’ executives and the leadership changes. This included the dismissal by Tanya Simon as executive producer. Pelley told the Times that he confronted Bilton at a staff meeting, where Bilton had read prepared remarks and introduced himself to his employees. Pelley called Bilton’s email “insulting,” and he announced plans to hire a new group of “60 Minutes correspondents” before the meeting. Pelley told reporters that Pelley was concerned about firings. Pelley admitted that she used hyperbolic words, but they are propriate for a reporter. immigration protests in Minneolis Pelley described the growing concern at CBS News in the wake of
, which was announced against the network just weeks prior to federal regulators proving the company’s purchase by David Ellison’s Skydance Media. Pelley referred to the settlement as a “bribe”, which was intended to secure the proval of the deal. Paramount denied this claim. Cooper, who had his contract not renewed, concluded his final pearance saying that he hoped that “60 Minutes'” integrity would be maintained. Pelley described Simon as “blindsided” at her termination. She said that she had grown up in CBS News because her father Bob Simon worked there. Pelley stated that “my understanding” from those directly involved with the interaction was that Bari Weiss, who was a part of that conversation, was livid because Anderson Cooper said these things without consulting her, Bari. This would have never been done in the normal course. Pelley stated, “I believe this was a part of the reasons Tanya was fired.” A CBS News spokesperson didn’t immediately respond to NBC News about Pelley’s description and assertion of Simon being terminated. Pelley, a 37-year veteran of CBS News who worked as a White House Correspondent, anchor for “CBS Evening News”, and correspondent for “60 Minutes”, described the leadership as lacking in experience. He is confident that the network will recover, but warns the trust in the newsroom has been eroded. Pelley told
, “They’re not doing what they should be.” “And I’ve never noticed a subtle political bias at CBS News, or ’60 Minutes. My hope is a return to the sanity. We can do this. We can land this plane. “CBS News is on fire right now.”

The Golden Knights won the game 5-4 over Carolina with a Shea Theodore shot off Brandon Bussi, the backup goalie who was brought in to play in the third after not having played for two months. Golden Knights Coach John Tortorella: “I’ve played a lot in the playoffs.” “I have never experienced one like that.”
Mitch Marner of Vegas, who produced the fastest Cup Final hat-trick in history, had a four-point game. The Golden Knights have a 2-1 lead in the series. Both teams have two days to rest up before the Game 4 in Las Vegas on Tuesday. Teams that had a 2-1 lead in the series went on to win 46 out of 57 Cups, or 80.7%.
However, the Hurricanes scored three goals: Taylor Hall, Jordan Staal and Jordan Martinook. These three goals were scored 39 seconds art and are the fastest ever in a Cup final game.
Andrei Svechnikov jammed a puck in on a power play of six-on-four with 1:42 remaining to force overtime. Martinook stated, “I like that we have the feeling we can recover from anything. However, you cannot put yourself in such a bad situation as we did.” “It’s impossible for them to take control of the game in the second half, especially now.” He provided the secondary assist for Tomas Hertl’s mid-period goal. In 1919, Frank Foyston from the Seattle Metropolitans was the last player to have four points in one period in the Cup final. Marner almost added to his total in the third frame, but missed out on both a breakaway opportunity and a penalty shot. The Golden Knights paid for those missed opportunities.
After Bussi made 18 saves, the Hurricanes came back after switching goalies in the third period. Frederik Andrén had conceded four goals in 16 shots. Carolina rallied as well without former Golden Knight William Carrier who suffered an upper-body injuries in the second period.
Vegas’ Carter Hart stopped 29 shots. The Hurricanes kept the game scoreless after Vegas twice peared to have the lead in the second frame. The Golden Knights got a boost from Brayden Mcnabb when he took to the ice. He was hit in the face by a puck during the first period of Thursday’s game in Carolina. He did not return to the match. McNabb was Vegas’ best defensive defender, as he wore a cage around his face to protect it. He played on the first defense pair with Theodore.

Gunmen at large, but 12 killed near Ohio festival.
Authorities said Saturday that gunmen who may have been aiming each other opened fire in the vicinity of a summer festival near Toledo, Ohio. Subscribe to read the story without ads

Toledo Police Deputy Director Joseph Heffernan stated that gunfire broke out just after 5:00 p.m. in Toledo, Ohio. “It is likely they were shooting at eachother,” he said. Heffernan stated that two of the victims are in critical condition and the shooters remain at large. Police Lt. Dan Gerken noted that the oldest victim was 61 years old and the youngest, 14. Most victims were in their 20s. Officials said that there were at least several hundred people present at the festival. The festival, which is held every year in Toledo, features live entertainment, food markets and a beer garden, as well as events for children. Gerken said the investigation was still in its initial stages. He added that authorities were talking to witnesses and victims, and reviewing footage from cameras. Heffernan confirmed that extra officers were on duty at the festival, as well as a large number off-duty police officers. “Mobile security cameras” had also been used, he added. He said that it was a shame for a few people to decide, for whatever reason they had in their heads, to disrupt an event that has been a community favorite for years.
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine stated that he was “deeply worried” about the shooting. “Summer Festivals should be safe places for families to enjoy time together without the fear of violence,” said DeWine
. ” We are praying for all those affected by the Old West End Festival incident. Fran and I have full confidence that the law enforcement agencies will find the suspects responsible for this senseless crime.”

Judge drops murder charges against Arkansas sheriff candidates who killed man
The judge dropped murder charges against an Arkansas candidate for sheriff who killed a male accused of sexually assaulting his daughter. Subscribe to read the story without ads
Get unlimited, adfree access to articles and exclusive content. The murder charge was filed against Spencer in October 2024 for the death of Michael Fosler (67), who had been accused of sexually assaulting Spencer’s daughter, aged 13 years. A judge dismissed the murder charges against Spencer on Thursday after ruling that Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office had mishandled the evidence. Special Circuit Court Judge Ralph Wilson Jr. ruled that law enforcement’s behavior was “so outrageous” as to warrant the dismissal. The killing occurred after Spencer found his missing daughter from her bedroom during the early morning hours on Oct. 8, and discovered her in Fosler’s pickup truck, according court documents. Documents state that Spencer told police he had hit the rear bumper of the car during a chase and ordered Fosler, who was in the truck, to get out. After Folster lunged, Spencer shot Fosler. The documents state that Spencer had called 911 after his daughter went missing, and then he called again after the shooting to tell a dispatcher he “had no other choice.” Fosler was on bail at the time. He had been charged with 43 sexual offenses involving Spencer’s child a month earlier. Spencer claimed his case inspired to run for public office. In March, he won the Republican nomination as Lonoke County’s sheriff. Spencer claimed on his website that he “fully contests the charges against me” and that his actions were those of a “father protecting his child.” Spencer’s defence argued the footage of the dashcam would have shown what hpened that night, including Fosler being with Spencer’s daughter. Wilson wrote, “The Court finds that Defendant has been adversely impacted by the loss or damage of the SD memory card in the dashcam. This affects his ability to defend himself and his right to a trial fairness.” Spencer stated that he is “grateful” for the decision.
“My main focus now is my family and returning to a normal lifestyle.” In a press release, Spencer asked people to respect his family’s privacy while we enter this new phase and return to normal. Erin Cassinelli is Spencer’s leading attorney. She said that Spencer “should never have been charged for the protection of his child.” The charge was dismissed and Spencer can now continue his campaign for sheriff in the November elections. He would have been ineligible if he’d been convicted.
