Taylor Swift at MSG: ‘Why would she get married here?’

An event permit has been requested. Streets are set to be blocked off. Invitations have even been issued, per one source. But even the legions of staff who work at and around Madison Square Garden — the massive sports arena in the heart of Manhattan where Taylor Swift is rumored to be celebrating her wedding next weekend — aren’t so sure.
“She’s a glamorous girl,” said one NYPD officer positioned outside the Garden. “She wouldn’t get married here.”
Indeed, the Garden is a far cry from the venues that have seen celebrity nuptials in the past — think Jeff Bezos taking over Venice to wed Lauren Sánchez or even Dua Lipa in Sicily. The arena is a behemoth hunk of metal in the most tourist-packed part of the city, whose floors have absorbed the sweat and tears of hundreds of athletes and music fans.
CNN spoke to a dozen New York Police Department officers stationed around the arena, all of whom were still doubtful that Swift and Travis Kelce will really have some sort of wedding event at the Garden next weekend. That’s despite CNN and other outlets reporting on a mountain of clues pointing to a July 3 Tayvis wedding event.
Three security guards at MSG and two Amtrak police officers said the same thing: that if she is celebrating her wedding there, they haven’t heard about it or been told to prepare.
“It’s a rumor,” said one officer at adjoining Penn Station. “Why would she get married here?”
The pro-MSG theory is that the arena is something of a fortress, with the security apparatus capable of handling an influx of celeb guests who could enter discreetly via the venue‘s underground entrances, while fans and would-be spectators are kept at a distance.
And, the thinking goes, if anyone has the budget to transform the venue into something befitting America’s version of a royal wedding, it’s Swift, who became a billionaire in 2023, according to Bloomberg.
Still, would she really do it? Some fans aren’t convinced. “Taylor loves her privacy. She loves her fans, but we saw in her last album she also wants her space,” said one lifelong Swiftie. “I just don’t think she’d have her wedding in such a public place.”
Another theory running wild: maybe a fake event at the Garden is an elaborate ruse to distract fans and media from a real wedding elsewhere. Maybe, ponder some fans, guests will be whisked off from MSG to another, more upscale venue — one where the aroma of hot dogs isn’t so strong.
Or maybe the pair will tie the knot in private before holding another event — an after party? a surprise concert? — at the arena.
A Taylor Swift wedding would be the latest in a series of blockbuster events for the venue, which has seen a visit from President Donald Trump and the New York Knicks’ first championship win in more than 50 years in the last month. Staff members who work at and around the arena said they’re still reeling from weeks of Knicks mania and swarms of World Cup tourists.
“A Taylor Swift wedding is going to be huge,” one security guard said. “We’re tired.”

Taylor Swift’s Wedding Facing More Major Backlash as Sources Compare It to Jeff Bezos’ Ceremony-‘It Feels Rude’
Swifties around the world are counting down the days until Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce say “I do,” hoping the Grammy-winning singer will finally get her happy ending. However, many members of the public are looking forward to the wedding for a very different reason—they want the looming disruptions to daily city life to end.
According to Hollywood insider Rob Shuter, Swift’s wedding is facing new major backlash due to possibly street closures around the venue, Madison Square Garden. The pop star and Kansas City Chiefs player are rumored to be getting married at New York City’s iconic arena over the 4th of July weekend.

Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce’s Wedding Reportedly Includes 1 Major Rule-‘Absolutely No’
Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce’s Wedding Reportedly Being ‘Planned Around the Threat Assessment’ After She Cut Out a Guest Who ‘Can’t Be Trusted’
On June 24, Page Six reported that City Hall confirmed that a permit application had been filed with the city’s Street Activity Permit Office for July 2 to July 4. The application, submitted by Winick Productions, requests street closures around MSG, along with plans for a public tent set up outside the arena to accommodate between 500 and 999 guests.
If roads around MSG are closed for the multi-day event, it could cause quite the uproar. “New Yorkers already spend enough time sitting in traffic,” a source told Shuter’s Naughty But Nice. “The reaction is, ‘Isn’t Madison Square Garden big enough? Now you need the streets too?'”
Another added, “People are trying to get home from work, catch trains, or leave the city for the July Fourth weekend. Nobody wants to hear that their commute could be disrupted because two very rich people are throwing a wedding.”
Related: Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce’s ‘Ironclad Prenup’ Terms Finally Revealed After Claims They Canceled Wedding Plans
Swift and Kelce’s wedding is also drawing unflattering comparisons to Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos’ three-day wedding extravaganza in Venice in June 2025, with critics seeing another example of billionaire-scale excess playing out in yet another historic city.
“After Venice, you’d think celebrities would understand that people don’t like feeling their city has been turned into a private party,” a separate insider said. “That’s exactly what this risks looking like.”
Even longtime fans of the “Love Story” singer are now reportedly questioning her judgment and exactly what is driving these decisions. “Taylor’s gift has always been knowing how ordinary people think,” a Swiftie remarked. “This feels different. The mood is, ‘Why should my day be harder because of a pop star and a football player?'”
As for whether the security decisions—including permits to shut down streets—actually came from the famous couple, almost no one seems to care. As one source explained, “People don’t care who filed the permits. They see street closures, traffic delays, and a celebrity wedding. To them, it feels rude—and that’s becoming the story.”

Bunnie Xo says she told ‘so many girls’ to DM Jelly Roll amid divorce: ‘Good luck with that’
Key Points
Bunnie Xo revealed that she told “so many girls” to DM her estranged husband, Jelly Roll, amid their divorce.
He filed for divorce after 10 years of marriage.
The reason for divorce, which states May 9 as the date of separation, is listed as “irreconcilable differences.”
Bunnie Xo is flooding Jelly Roll with DMs. Well, sort of.
The podcaster admitted that she told fans to send messages to her estranged husband amid their divorce, which was announced earlier this month.
“First of all, shout-out to all the women. I told so many girls to go in J’s DMs, which you know, have at it. Good luck with that” Bunnie Xo began during the Friday episode of Dumb Blonde, referring to the country star.
“But all of these women are in my DMs,” Bunnie Xo continued, alluding to some miscommunication of what she meant.
“And if they did message J, they copy and paste or screenshot the message that they sent him. And I’m just like, ‘No, all of you girls are just so f–king sweet. Like, thank you so much. I love you guys.’ But they’re just like pouring into me and they’re like just everybody’s just like, ‘Dude, I don’t want to be in his DMs. I want to be in yours.'”
The podcaster, whose real name is Alisa Andrea DeFord, also mentioned that she didn’t want fans picking “sides” amid her and Jelly Roll’s divorce. “I don’t want anybody to pick sides, but you know…if you guys, you know, want to come come live with mom, we’ve got plenty of room for you,” she quipped.
News of Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo’s divorce broke on June 15. According to court documents obtained and reviewed by Entertainment Weekly, the country star, whose real name is Jason DeFord, filed for divorce on May 18 in Williamson County, Tenn., with their separation date listed as May 9.
The documents stated “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for divorce, noting that the “parties are unable to live together successfully as husband and wife.”

Jelly Roll is father of daughter Bailee Ann and son Noah Buddy from previous relationships.
In her June 18 episode of Dumb Blonde, she addressed their split, calling him her “best friend.”
“He has always been my best friend and I love that man more than life itself,” she said in part.
“You guys have seen how I ride for that mofo. Even to this day, behind the scenes your girl is still riding for that man. And I always will. And that’s just what it is and that’s how it is and that’s how it will always be.”

‘Supergirl’ Makes $13M in First Day at Global Box Office
DC Studios’ second production under the James Gunn and Peter Safran administration, Supergirl, made $13M in its first day at the global box office, a number not far from the first day of Universal/Amblin’s $115M Steven Spielberg movie, Disclosure Day which did $12M.
Broken down, domestic previews were $7.8M, that’s combined from Wednesday fan events and Thursday showtimes that began at 3PM yesterday. That’s a number above Disney/Marvel Studios’ The Marvels previews of $6.6M ($46.1M U.S./Canada opening), above DC’s Black Adam which made $7.6M (which opened to $67M) and under what DC’s The Flash did at $9.7M ($55M opening).
Supergirl overperformed in 11 U.S. markets so far: LA was +22% over normal levels, New York was +24%, Dallas was +13%, Chicago +17%, San Francisco was +14%, DC was +22%, Philly +14%, Atlanta +11%, and Orlando +30%.
Supergirl‘s initial wave of foreign markets grossed $5.2M. The hope is that the pic clears $80M+ now in its global launch at 46,000 screens in 77 foreign markets. China and Japan are part of the offshore suite opening today with France and Belgium bowing next weekend. Domestic opening forecasts have cooled from $50M+ to upper $40M+ range start for the feature production which I’m told cost $170M, but others tell me net $186M. As we told you, Supergirl has over $100M in media value from its global promotional partner campaign, DC Studios’ biggest ever. Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story 5 is expected to lead the weekend in its second frame with around $90M.
Rotten Tomatoes audience score stands at 77% which is higher than The Flash (63%), Shazam: Fury of the Gods (49%), and Joker: Folie a Deux (31%) and not far from Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (79%).
Meanwhile, Paramount’s Jackass: Best and Last grossed $1.2M from Thursday previews across from more than 2,450 locations. The pic’s domestic outlook is $10M this weekend for the net $10M production. The MTV IP is also going in 19 markets including Germany, Italy, Mexico, Spain, and the United Kingdom. Six markets will release later, including Australia on July 2.
Also, in another good beat at the summer box office, Paramount Pictures and Miramax’s Scary Movie crossed $100 million at the domestic box office yesterday, becoming the first R-rated comedy to reach the milestone since Girls Trip (2017) (meaning not R-rated action comedy like the last two Bad Boys sequels, and not superhero R-rated comedy like Deadpool & Wolverine). The film also crossed $100 million at the international box office last weekend, bringing its worldwide total to more than $200 million. Broken down, the exact cume is $208.5M WW, comprised of $100.5M stateside and $108M abroad. The Scary Movie franchise now counts $1 billion at the box office.
Here’s what happened in the last week at the box office:

Bunnie Xo spills on DMs from celebrities after ending ‘loveless’ Jelly Roll marriage
Bunnie Xo’s DMs are flooded with messages from men, including “a few rappers,” following her split from Jelly Roll.
“I have the blue check marks coming in,” she shared on Friday’s episode of her “Dumb Blonde Podcast,” adding that “a couple of guys sent [her] poems.”
The 46-year-old said she’s “only responded to two DMs” because she’s “not ready” to get back onto the dating scene.
“I feel like I have so much to work on with myself that I have nothing to offer anybody,” she explained.
Bunnie Xo (born Alisa Andrea Carter) read aloud one of her male admirers’ messages, which repeatedly referenced Jelly Roll.
“Hey girl, if you ever wanted to be with a man who doesn’t have any tattoos, especially none on his face, I’m here for you. If you wanna go back to someone who’s a little more hefty than him, I’m your boy,” the DM read in part.
The podcaster warned people who are pursuing her to to not bring up the 41-year-old singer.
“Please don’t talk about my ex,” she stated. “I’m trying to get away from him. Please. I don’t wanna hear it.”
Another DM called Bunnie’s body “absurd” and said she “oozes sexy” — prompting her to quip to her co-hosts, “He might [get] a response.”
A third fan told Bunnie he’s “about to get out of prison on a 10-year bid next year” and wants to “have a time” with her.
“So listen. I don’t mind that the dude’s in prison,” Bunnie joked, before calling out the fan for “expecting” her to hook up on the first date.
When one of her co-hosts noted the person “might need it” after ten years, Bunnie said she could relate.
“I just got out of a 10-year bid too bitches,” she said while laughing. “What are we talking about?”
Bunnie added in hysterics, “I’m about to get a phone call. J[elly Roll] is gonna call me and be like, ‘Bitch, what the f–k?’ I’m sorry!”
After reading multiple DMs, Bunnie admitted she “couldn’t even imagine looking at a dong right now.”
“I wanna punch them,” she said. “If I ever saw a d–k right now, I’d probably just clock it real quick.”
Earlier in the episode, Bunnie explained that while she “never wanted to become the poster child for divorced women,” she’s embracing the split so she can inspire other women.
“I just want to show women that you can do the damn thing and you can literally get your spark back slowly but surely,” she said. “You’re going to feel beautiful again.”
Bunnie, who was married to Jelly Roll for nearly a decade, also said she “didn’t realize how many women were in such loveless marriages and were hurting as bad as [she] was.”
“Life is too short, man,” she shared. “You gotta be happy. And there’s no better feeling than freedom. Just knowing that I get to live the rest of my life doing whatever the f–k want. I am so happy. Like, you have no idea guys.”
Bunnie also teased that she “has so much planned” regarding her career, which she’d elaborate more on at a later time.
As Page Six confirmed, Jelly Roll quietly filed for divorce from Bunnie in Williamson County, Tennessee, on May 18.
The documents revealed the Grammy Award winner cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their breakup.
Bunnie, who has not yet filed her own paperwork in the divorce proceedings, said on her “Dumb Blonde” podcast last week that the exes are still planning to have a baby together via IVF.
The former couple tied the knot in August 2016 and dealt with a cheating scandal two years later that they ultimately moved past.

How Supergirl Changes James Gunn’s DCU Superman Twist
Warning: This article contains spoilers for Supergirl!
James Gunn’s Superman may have been heavily inspired by the DC Comics source material in some ways, but Gunn wasn’t afraid to introduce a significant change or two in his version of the Superman mythos. Most notably, the film dropped the surprise twist that Superman’s (David Corenswet) biological parents, Jor-El (Bradley Cooper) and Lara Lor-Van (Angela Sarafyan), were not as noble as they seemed. It turns out they were actually space fascists the whole time.
That’s one of the reasons we were so interested to watch Craig Gillespie’s Supergirl. The second theatrical release in Gunn’s DCU is a direct follow-up to Superman, and it actually shows us glimpses of life on Krypton before that world was annihilated. How does Supergirl build on the big twist from Superman? Are Kara Zor-El’s parents also space fascists?
Well, no, they aren’t. It seems that Jor-El and his wife may have been the odd ones out on old Krypton. Let’s take a closer look at how Supergirl walks back Superman’s biggest plot twist, and what this means for Kryptonians in the DCU, including what Gillespie himself has to say on the matter.
How James Gunn’s Superman Changes Krypton
2025’s Superman introduces the Man of Steel’s Fortress of Solitude, where he keeps his most treasured souvenirs and relics of Krypton. Chief among those is a recording of his parents, Jor-El and Lara Lor-Van, as they bid farewell to their infant child just before their homeworld is destroyed. A portion of the message is garbled and corrupted, but Superman always assumed they were simply wishing him well and urging him to be the hero humanity needs.
That all comes crashing down when Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) and the Engineer (María Gabriela de Faría) break into the Fortress and download the message. Once decrypted, it becomes apparent that Jor-El and Lara were not urging their son to be a benevolent protector. They wanted him to rule over Earth and use it as a breeding ground to repopulate the Kryptonian race.
Ultimately, Kal-El is forced to accept that his parents weren’t the people he thought they were. Luckily for him, he still has his adoptive parents, Jonathan (Pruitt Taylor Vince) and Martha (Neva Howell). They, not Jor-El, were responsible for forging a powerful alien into the world’s greatest and most selfless hero.
This twist suggests that Gunn has a very different view of Kryptonian society than many Superman storytellers. In Gunn’s DCU, this advanced civilization isn’t a shining beacon of science and knowledge, but a fascist culture that believes it has a right and a duty to dominate lesser worlds. They seem more like a less violent version of the Viltrumites from Invincible.
This isn’t a complete divergence from the comics, mind you. Writer/artist John Byrne took a less favorable view of Krypton when he reinvented the Superman mythos in the late ‘80s, portraying Krypton as a formerly hedonistic world that was transformed by a brutal war into a cold, unfeeling planet ruled by a strict caste system. Over time, Kryptonian culture has come to be depicted as its own worst enemy, unable to evolve or accept the existential threat facing it. If anything, Gunn seems to be leaning on Byrne’s work with his depiction of a more fascist Krypton.
How Supergirl Reconciles the Krypton Twist
That all being said, one of the big takeaways from 2026’s Supergirl is that not all Kryptonians were like Jor-El. The film introduces the parents of Milly Alcock’s Kara Zor-El, David Krumholtz’s Zor-El and Emily Beecham’s Alura In-Ze. The film includes flashbacks to Krypton’s destruction, where we see Zor-El save a portion of the city of Argo using advanced forcefield technology, essentially creating a life raft of Kryptonian survivors.
Because of this, Kara is able to grow up with her family by her side, unlike her older cousin. It’s only after many years, when Zor-El discovers that he and his people are dying of radiation poisoning, that he chooses to send the teenage Kara to Earth to join Kal-El.
Unlike Kal-El, Kara has an entire childhood of memories of life on Krypton (or a piece of it). She knew her birth parents and was shaped by them. And the film makes it clear that Zor-El was very unlike his brother. He didn’t raise Kara to be a tyrannical ruler bent on dominating Earth and establishing a harem for making Kryptonian babies. He and Alura imparted a strict moral code more in keeping with that of the Kent family.
In short, the Kryptonians that lived in Argo seem much more in line with the classical version of Krypton from the comics. Their Krypton was more idyllic and utopian. Zor-El lived very much in opposition to the views of his brother; before sending her to Earth, Kara’s parents even warn her not to follow the path Jor-El laid out for Kal-El.
Clearly, Kryptonian culture in the DCU is not a monolith. Some may have supported Jor-El’s views that Kryptonians are superior to lesser races and should dominate them, but others were like Zor-El, believing that Krypton could be a beacon of light and hope for the universe. This seems to have been the source of a major rift between the two brothers in the past.
In a recent interview with IGN, Gillespie said, “It was fascinating to go on that journey, and obviously, we had to acknowledge that, and they do in the film, but that’s the falling out between the two brothers, and him trying to stay behind, keep the civilization, and really instill this goodness. I think that’s what makes [Kara’s] life so hard in the film, is the trauma of losing that, losing this nurturing family, and seeing it suffer and die is something that she has to work through, but it’s fascinating to see. It’s almost the reverse of what happened with Superman.”
At the end of the day, the Supergirl movie argues that Krypton wasn’t necessarily an “evil” world in the DCU. Jor-El himself seems to have just been a bad apple. This, too, has some basis in the comics. As part of the DC Rebirth storyline in 2016, writer Geoff Johns revealed that Jor-El survived his planet’s destruction (with help from Watchmen’s Doctor Manhattan, no less) and became a shadowy figure called Mr. Oz. Oz was disillusioned with humanity and attempted to compel his son to leave Earth behind. That didn’t work, obviously, and Oz/Jor-El was eventually returned back in time to die with his planet. So much for the noble, wise, optimistic Jor-El of yesteryear.
Maybe Gunn said it best when he wrote Michael Rooker’s Yondu in 2017’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: “He may have been your father, boy, but he wasn’t your daddy.”
Are you planning on seeing Supergirl?
Yes, on opening weekend.
Yeah, eventually I’ll go to the theater.
Eh, gonna wait for streaming.
Nope, never will I ever.
Let’s discuss in the comments.
